Miriam Sentler

STATEMENT

Through her interdisciplinary practice, Sentler researches moments by taking the action of traveling as a starting point. All her work is strongly site-specific and develops from research and narratives in combination with a certain place. Sentler’s work often focusses on a subtle moment, that lingers in her mind because it evoked a kind of memory, association or desire. Connecting different phenomena and bringing together seemingly isolated objects or stories is a big part of her work, and coincidence plays an important role in this process. During the research in her studio, she creates new contexts which are open to collaboration at a very early stage, making it possible for others to take part in the projects. By doing this, the work loses his strictly autobiographical nature and connects to other histories and associations. Miriam tries to reconstruct or reinvent the moments she finds interesting by making them tangible, an experience.
